Sweeney Todd Audition Announcement!

The Pocket Theatre will be holding auditions for our August show, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Auditions will be held March 21st and 22nd at 2 pm at the Pocket Theatre.

Rehearsals will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 6-8 (9 when we start on the main stage) and on Saturdays from 10-12. Performances are August 7th-9thand 15th-17th (with two shows on Saturdays).

For your audition, be prepared to sing the song cuts and perform the sides listed for the character you are auditioning for.

Sweeney Todd

A wrongfully imprisoned barber seeking to right the wrongs committed against him. He is Johanna’s father, singularly focussed on taking bloody revenge. Our story’s tormented protagonist. Audition materials: Song Side 1 Side 2

AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT – “Ripcord” a comedy by David Lindsay-Abaire
Presented by Pocket Community Theatre
Directed by: Steve Mitchell and Glenn Calloway
Performance Dates: June 5-7 and 12-14, 2026

ABOUT THE SHOW:
A sunny room on an upper floor is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, so when the cantankerous Abby s forced to share her quarters with new arrival Marilyn, she has no choice but to get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the old women quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just the tenacity of these worthy opponents but also deeper truths that each would rather remain hidden.

Dates: Sunday, April 12 and Monday, April 13 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Character Descriptions (3 women and 5 men):

Abby Binder (70s – 80s)…rigid, headstrong, pulled back hair with a bun. No sense of humor, very businesslike. Wants to be alone. Wears dark clothes.

Marilyn Dunn (70s – 80s)…flamboyant, loves life, very messy, organization is not her forte, high energy, wears flamboyant clothes.

Scottie (20s – 30s)…introspective thinker, peace maker, loves his patients, loves his job, and helps his clients, actor in local theater.

Lewis (30s – 40s)…Marilyn’s oldest son and sky diving instructor. Yells commands.

Benjamin (40s)…Abby’s son and clown. He tries to bridge the gap between him and his mother, nice guy. As the clown he is loud and scary.

Colleen (40s)…Marilyn’s daughter and the woman in white. Happy personality, a little mischievous. As the woman in white she is on the verge of mourning.

Derek (40s)…Marilyn’s son and masked man. Happy personality, a little mischievous. 

Zombi Butler (20s – 90s)…scary, tattered clothes, with scary makeup.

What to Prepare:

●       Cold readings from the script will be part of the audition.

●       Be prepared to read a monologue of your choice.

Looking For:

●       A diverse and enthusiastic cast of adults.

●       No prior familiarity with Ripcord is required — come prepared to do your best
